Now we know that after the Summer season we have to start transforming our looks, wrapping up warm and buying a new coat. However what about the other items in our wardrobes? Are they still fashion fierce? Well here at Mind of SK we’ve composed an edit of what to ditch and what to make sure you shop for, so you’re ready for anything fashionable this AW 2014.
Shoes!!!
Ditch that Birkenstock! Or in fact sandals at all, it’s time to sadly retire those pool side beauties in favour of more season friendly shoes.
Transitional piece – Wedge heels! We don’t want to move out of that summer mode too quickly; after all we still have our tan to show off for a little while. And with the beautiful knee length dresses from top brands such as Prada it’s time to add a little height to our silhouettes, therefore the wedge heels are the perfect transitional piece before hiding our toes away for winter.
Buy – boots. Ankle boots, shoe boots but most importantly the thigh high/over the knee boots. It happens every year, the sandals are out and the boots are in, we’ve have gorgeous examples from Gianvito Rossi’s thigh high grey suede boots to Donna Karen’s backless boot. So get shopping! Net-a-porter has a great range of lux pieces to fit any fashionistas style.

Shades
Out – Bold Colours. Primary Colours say summer, so unfortunately those blindingly beautiful dresses and bold brights need to find their way to the back of your wardrobe until brighter days return.
Buy – Autumnal Shades. The shades that are in this season are earthy tones. Camel, greens, browns, beige, mauve and the elegant purple, all of autumns many hues. This elegant palette is much more suited to everyone’s skin tone and exudes chic sophistication.

Chanel
Cover up
Hide – the mid riff. Over the summer months we saw everyone wearing crop tops and bralets, often paired with high waisted options. Well these beauties must now retire but rest assured these will be back next summer.
Purchase – big knits. Capes, blanket coats, draping sleeves, cashmere jumpers, anything velvet and even knitted trousers. It’s all about comfort and style this season, wrap up warm.

Calvin Klein Collection
Transition – Sport lux to textured craftwork
Put away - The sport lux trend. Sport coats, Luxury trainers, sweatshirts and silk joggers. All chic and casual at the same time, you can get away with this style in the transitional period but we are now moving into style heaven rather than chic track star.
Acquire – Beautifully crafted pieces. Embroidery, craftsmanship and textures are the Style secret this season. It’s about the workmanship as well as the style points.
