We all love an exquisitely cooked meal every now and again, but have you ever wondered what the most expensive restaurant in Britain is?
Le Manoir Aux Quat’saisons, a hotel-restaurant based in the village of Great Milton near Oxfordshire, can definitely be placed up there among the most expensive.
Housed in a beautiful manor house with rolling gardens, the restaurant in Le Manoir Aux Quat’saisons currently holds two Michelin stars and has played host to 28 Michelin-starred chefs so far.
With fresh ingredients grown in the gardens and chefs having to complete two and a half years of training in the kitchen, it’s easy to believe the quality of the restaurant’s food.
Looking at the a la carte menu, a hors d’oeuvres can set you back as much as £46, for a pan seared duck liver served with compressed apple and tamarind.
The plats principaux offers a small range of main courses, including new season grouse and assiette of piglet to name a few – ranging in price from £48 to £52 per dish.
And finally, the deserts offer crumbles, parfaits, sorbets and ice creams, meringue or cheese for a dashing £28 each.
Or why not try the notre menu decouverte – a set menu for the table, offering a seven course meal for £154 per person?
Although teetering on the astronomical side in terms of expense (a set menu for four would cost you a healthy £616!), it isn’t hard to deny that the food would taste exquisite. With Michelin starred chefs at your beck and call – and a beautiful setting to eat within – maybe you could treat yourself for just the one night!
